Tournament Bowling: What’s New in Bowling

Clearly, our passion at JB’s on 41 is bowling. Whether you view bowling as a recreational activity or as a competitive sport at a tournament or league or two, we love to see kids and adults alike at our venue for some fun and entertainment! This year, there will even be TV tournament coverage of this game we love so much!

That’s right—CBS Sports Network agreed to televise 23 major championship bowling events in 2016, which included live telecasts of all four majors on the Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour. It also includes a live telecast of the U.S. Open, a championship on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour. So if you’re as crazy as we are about the game of bowling, you can stop by to partake in a game or two while also watching elite bowlers compete to be the ultimate champion.

U.S. Open Tournament

While many of the big tournament games have already occurred, one of the biggest events in bowling, the U.S. Open., is still approaching, taking place on Wednesday, November 9 at 7 p.m. CT. The tournament is set to happen at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas—known for being a premier facility for bowling—from November 3-9.

To show you just how much of a big deal the event is expected to be, we wanted to give you a little more information about the tournament. This year, the U.S. Open is expecting to attract more than 250 bowlers from across the world. All will compete but only the top five players, based on pinfall with match-play bonus pins included, will advance to the stepladder finals. Eventually, the ultimate champion will take home $30,000 and the coveted green jacket. That’s quite the lucrative prize!

And if that isn’t enough to entice you to watch this year, bowler Ryan Ciminelli is looking to defend his 2015 U.S. Open title. Will the left-hander be able to repeat this crowning achievement? You’ll have to watch to find out!
